“GTD”

Right now I am all overwhelmed with some of the information a was looking into and reading the blogs that my fellow classmates have posted about Getting Things Done. This is something that I have somewhat of trouble with at times. I read a very interesting post that one of my classmates Ramon linked to on his blog and found this to be true with me. “Stop Making Excuses”.  Then again everyone could probably relate to this in one way or another, whether it be in your personal or professional life.

I think that this could be a very useful tool in your PLE, mainly because if you have a hard time Getting Things Done then you will definitely have a hard time in your PLE. Especially since PLE’s consist mainly of you learning on your own at your own pace. If you seem to make excuses for moving forward with what you are learning then it could take you more time to learn something than it should. Which can definetly hurt if you are learning about a new tool you could use or need to use in your line of work.

I have to say that i did enjoy Life Hacker. This seems to be a place where you could find things that will help you do things a lot easier than before and with you having to possibly spend less or no money at all. I know just by looking it over i found the iRinger post very intersting and will definitly be looking it that some more. But one thing i did also notice is that I saw mostly things for PC and I am on the move to go entirely to Mac. Now this makes me wonder if I should keep my PC laptop around along with my iMac..?

  1. For implementing GTD you might try out this web-based application:

    http://www.Gtdagenda.com

You can use it to manage your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar.
A mobile version and iCal are available too.

    Hope you like it.

  2. I worked with a printable system for the last two decades, before reading David Allen’s book on GTD and finding an electronic application that allows me to view my entire GTD at work on my Win machine, at home on my Macs and even on my cell phone. And another app lets me call in tasks to my GTD without any writing or typing, great for those thoughts that hit me while driving. I’ve written about my experiences with GTD in a blog post at http://johnkendrick.wordpress.com/2008/03/27/more-getting-things-done/ John

I say keep the PC around…You never know when you might need to do somw testing on a different OS. I’ve had to do it hundreds of times. I’m glad there are some out there that are on the same boat as me. We all now know what map will get us there a lot easier.
